My Trip to IPOH

The day started off with a scenic drive. My dad started the car and left KL on the old road. Driving slowly, he covered little distance. After a while, he got lost and spent and hours looking for the newer main highway.

On the way there, there was a restaurant named “Try to Eat.” I was thinking what type of food this restaurant served. It must be pretty bad if even the name dares you to try eating it. Actually, I guess it is a Chinese translation from “Must try” to “Try to eat”.

On the highway we stopped by several stops to get food and rest. By this time it was already high noon. Fortunately, after another hour on the road we reached Ipoh. Ipoh has changed so much since we last came. The roads have been renamed and our guidebooks are no longer relevant. Guess it is time to change them. After driving round in circles we finally decided on a place to eat. The store eatery was small, but food was good. I was surprised at the way the shop vendors came to try to get us to buy food. Within seconds of sitting down, a small army of vendors came to ask us what we wanted to eat. It was like shock!

After the meal, we left the shop to find our hotel. The freaking roads are so difficult to navigate and dad does not listen to advice. I mean come on, if I tell you we came here before accept it and don’t make 3 rounds before you realize it. We finally found the hotel thanks to a friendly truck driver. Thank heavens. The hotel, which is a 3 star hotel, was below expectations. The bathroom was horrible. There was a toilet seat that does not stay up and an “Invisible” step at the door that is hidden by the bad bathroom lighting. That ends the day’s story.
