Fire.

Big Fires and Smoke everywhere. The entire stretch of forest along Tampines Ave 9 caught fire. It was awful. Ash and smoke kept poring out and engulfed the sky in smoke. Poor trees could be seen cracking and burnt. I was at the scene to take a few pictures since I was quite close. The wind fed the fire and fanned it onwards. When I cycled to the other side of Tampines Ave 9. I discovered that there were 2 other fires burning the same forest at other ends. A total of 3 fires spred like wild fire across the forest. I think it was due to the lack of rain recently causing everything to be dry.
Then unfortunately, my bicycle ran out of air. So I foolishly stopped at a nearby petrol station to pump air for my bicycle. It was not until later that I discovered that the petrol station had been evacuated due to the fire behind the station. I could not believe how fast the fires had grown.
Firemen adn the police arrived at the scene rather late. By then the fire had become a inferno. Since the firemen could not drive their big fire trucks in. They sent their Red Rhinos(Code Name For Small Fire Truck) in. They took any fire hydrant nearby and connected it to their pumps and attempted to spray the fire. It was commical when the firemen took a ladder down to cross to the other side of Sungei Tampines. The backflow from the water going down the drain and having to go up agin on the otherside was too great. The fire hydrant burst spraying water everywhere. On top of that. Stupid people who had gathered at the scene refused to give way to the firemen and had to sprayed to go away. Some even exclaimed "rain rain." Stupid bunch of clowns. If the firemen did not put it out they would be burnt.
Later that night it was showing the Chingay. The fires were still burning mercilessly throught the forest. If I am correct the aftermath would be that 2/3 of the forest had burnt down. I climbed to the top of a nearby building to snap a few high angle shots. It was well done and the lighting was great. Later I was joined by a photojournalist from SPH(SINGAPORE PUBLISHING HOUSE). Haha. I thought It was too late for him to be taking any worthwhile pictures. I would have sold him my pictures from my camera if he was not in such a hurry and would stay to have a short chat.
